Technical Bulletin 4-10/95

During shipment of 3M™Matchprint™III proofs and 3M™Color-Key™ III proofs, the combination of heat and pressure can cause color to transfer from one proof to another, or to another surface. Use the following guide-lines to ensure safe shipment of color proofs.

Matchprint™ III Proofs

Be sure to save the clear polyester carrier film you peel from Matchprint™III color proofing films.

During shipment, the image side of every Matchprint™III proof must be protected with a slip sheet, and the ONLY material recommended for use as a slip sheet is the clear, polyester carrier film that you remove (and often discard) after lamination during the Matchprint™ proof-making process.

Never ship Matchprint™ III proofs face-to-face or face-to-back without a polyester carrier film between them. If the image side of one proof is placed directly against the back of another proof, heat and pressure can cause the logo pattern on the Matchprint™ base material to transfer to the proof below.

Color-Key™ III Proofs

During shipment, each layer of a Color-Key™III proof must be protected with a sheet of paper (for example, bond, printing or vellum paper). Do NOT use polyester film. A slip sheet is not necessary between Color-Key™proofs because the paper base serves as a barrier between proofs. Never ship Color-Key™III proofs face-to-face without a paper slip sheet between them.

Protect the image side of every Matchprint™ proof with a polyester carrier film.Protect each layer of a Color-Key™III proof with a sheet of paper.
